Building on the last year’s great results, E3 International thruogh its SLLEI initiative and with Balkan Energy and Forestry Trend (BEFT), has continued its comittment to improving the environment and to supporting local communities by donating basket willow cuttings. For this activity, E3 International is partnering with CIFOR/ICRAF and is also receiving the support from the German Development Agency (GIZ).
During last fall, willows were already planted in Nis, Valjevo, Loznica, Trstenik, Zrenjanin, Ljubovija and other municipalities. This year in April, within the SBB Foundation’s afforestation campaign “Let there be more forests. Let us breathe better!”, willow cuttings were donated and planted in Cacak – Pranjani (30,000), Lucani (10,800), and Kraljevo – Rocevici, Kovaci, Sirca, Vitkovac (4,800). “Let there be more forests. Let us breathe better!” is a part of the SBB Foundation’s long-term campaign “Don’t litter. You have no excuse!”.
Apart from the SBB’s campaign, willow cuttings were also donated and planted on one acre of area at the two agricultural households in Divci and Pecinci.
Dusan Jovic, on behalf of E3 International and BEFT said they would be at disposal to the municipalities and local self-governments that received the cuttings, and that they would also support any similar future initiatives.
The main goal of this initiative is to promote the use of renewable energy source and improve sustainable land management through these donations and sharing the knowledge and experience with local communities.
