On 4 November 2021, E3 International hosted a panel discussion “The role of energy crops in the energy strategy of the Republic of Serbia (and the region)” at the annual International Energy and Investment Days.
The 10th International Energy and Investment Days, which were held on 3-4 November 2021 in Novi Sad, offered an opportunity to showcase activities in the field of energy and investment from the previous period, exchange information and experiences, strengthen existing cooperations and partnerships and also make new contacts, in order to achieve even better results.
The panel discussion was moderated by Daniel B. Berg (E3 International) and the panelist were:
- Slavoljub Arsenijevic (Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism)
- Sándor Pákozdi Jr. (Arundo BioEnergy)
- Sabina Benedek (Regional Landfill Subotica)
- Nevad Ikanovic (Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine)
- Dragan Arsenijevic (EPS – Mining Basin Kolubara)
- Branko Glavonjic (University of Belgrade – Faculty of Forestry)
- Aleksandar Fragner (E3 International)
The event brought together around 50 participants from various ministries, international organizations, energy and other companies, and civil society representatives. The participants had the opportunity to learn more and ask questions about the very promising first results of the pilot projects – fast growing woody biomass plantations – implemented under SLLEI program at several sites in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with Elektroprivreda Srbije, Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine and the Regional Landfill Subotica, with a kind support of the stakeholders such as the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Provincial Government, Arundo BioEnergy, etc. The panelists also provided a preview to their scale-up plans for the upcoming period and long term efforts to mitigate climate change effects to improve air quality, restore land, and create green jobs.
