Arundo BioEnergy is a biotechnology company using a worldwide patented, state of the art micro-propagation technology, enabling the production of genetically stable, high quality, virus-free Arundo plantlet on an industrial scale. By possessing different ecotypes of Arundo suited for a wide range of climate conditions like continental, mediterranean, subtropical, tropical, semi-arid, the energy crop can be cultivated on a variety of climates. Since Arundo has a high tolerance to poor ecological conditions, the goal is to utilize it on marginal lands and produce low-cost and high-yield biomass for the bioenergy industry. A top priority is to make biogas production a more financially competitive energy source by using feedstock that is more available, cheap and reliable. Arundo proved to have 1.5 times higher biogas yield compared to corn and 3 times more than triticale, whilst the cost of production is 50% lower.
